MINOR CONFLICT PARALLELS II
Bristol-based band Minor Conflict have released their new single, ‘Parallels II’. Their sound has always been hard to define, with a DIY post-punk aesthetic being combined with Krautrock rhythms, blinking synth sounds and the subtle influence of various types of dance music. The track exists in a unique sonic landscape that allows the electronic and acoustic instruments to clash and interact, with the disconcerting vibe being elevated by the footage from space used in the accompanying visualiser. “The song’s narrative follows two lovers attempting to overcome the hurdles of visas and embassies so they can reunite,” the band explain on its lyrical content. “The inspiration initially came from Robbie’s experiences working in Bosnia with migrants on their journey to Europe, but was crystallised into lyrics by Josh…There is a lyrical overlay as two speakers correspond, both hopeful they can reunite.” Minor Conflict’s Parallels EP drops on January 24th, 2025 via PRAH Recordings. -Dan Peeke
